Kenya’s meat export sector recorded notable progress in 2024, with total export figures reaching $11.3 million.

According to data from the Observatory of Economic Complexity, the Middle East continues to serve as the main market for Kenyan meat products, with four prominent countries in the region constituting the bulk of the nation’s global trade in this commodity.

Saudi Arabia emerges as the most significant partner, importing Kenyan meat valued at $6.37 million. This particular market accounts for over half of the annual export total, highlighting a robust commercial partnership.

Bahrain ranks as the second-largest destination, adding $3.77 million to the industry’s income. Together, these two countries form the foundation of Kenya’s meat export earnings, sustaining regular demand for the nation’s agricultural products.

Outside of the top two markets, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait also play substantial roles in the trade framework. The UAE imported meat worth $0.916 million, whereas Kuwait’s purchases amounted to $0.119 million.
