Kenya Launches National Sports Data Hub to Track Athlete Development

by KenyaPolls

The Ministry of Sports and ICT unveiled the Kenya Sports Data Hub (KSDH) on September 12, 2025—a centralized digital platform tracking athlete performance, injuries, education, and career transitions from school to elite level. Built with IBM Kenya and Safaricom, it integrates data from AK, FKF, KRU, and schools (via MOEST’s EMIS). Over 18,000 athletes were enrolled in Phase 1, with biometric wearables piloted in 10 academies. No more lost talent in paperwork, said CS Wafula. The system flagged 217 at-risk athletes (injury/mental health) for early intervention. FIFA awarded Kenya a USD 200,000 grant to expand to SADC nations. Privacy protocols comply with Kenya’s Data Protection Act.
