Kenya Launches National Broadband Plan to Connect 10 Million Homes

by KenyaPolls

The Ministry of ICT has launched the National Broadband Strategy 2024–2030, targeting 100% 4G coverage and 10 million homes connected to high-speed internet by 2030. The plan leverages the National Optic Fibre Backbone and partnerships with Safaricom, Airtel, and Liquid. Rural schools and health centers are priority zones. Over Ksh50 billion in public and private investment is committed. The initiative aims to boost e-education, telemedicine, and digital entrepreneurship. Kenya’s internet penetration is already at 91%, but speed and affordability gaps persist outside urban areas.
