Kenya has launched a Ksh2 billion National AI Innovation Fund to support startups building solutions in healthcare, agriculture, education, and climate. Managed by the Ministry of ICT and Strathmore University, the fund offers grants, equity, and cloud credits. Initial cohorts include startups using AI to detect crop disease, predict maternal health risks, and optimize energy grids. Microsoft, Google, and NVIDIA are providing technical support. The fund aligns with Kenya’s National AI Strategy and aims to position Nairobi as Africa’s AI innovation hub. Over 200 startups are expected to benefit by 2027, creating 10,000 high-skilled jobs.
