Kenya expands national agenda on digital transformation

Kenya has announced an expansion of its national agenda on digital transformation, reinforcing the country’s commitment to leveraging technology for economic growth, social development, and enhanced public service delivery. The government aims to integrate advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and data analytics across key sectors including healthcare, agriculture, finance, and education. Officials say this strategic push will improve efficiency, foster innovation, and position Kenya as a leading digital hub in Africa.
The expanded agenda builds on earlier initiatives, including the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy launched on 27 March 2025, which provides a roadmap for AI adoption, workforce development, and ethical governance, and the Kenya AI Skilling Alliance (KAISA), launched on 29 October 2025, which supports skills training, mentorship, and innovation hubs nationwide. Pilot projects under the expanded agenda include AI-assisted crop monitoring, automated health diagnostics, and predictive financial tools, highlighting the tangible benefits of digital transformation for both urban and rural communities.
Industry experts have welcomed the expansion, noting that it creates an enabling environment for entrepreneurship, investment, and technology-driven growth. They emphasize the need for strong data governance, cybersecurity, and inclusive access to ensure that the benefits of digital transformation reach all Kenyans. Looking ahead, Kenya’s reinforced national agenda is expected to accelerate digital innovation, create new job opportunities, and strengthen the country’s position as a leader in technology adoption and digital development across Africa.
