Kenya expands national agenda on AI adoption

Kenya has announced an ambitious expansion of its national agenda on artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, reinforcing the country’s commitment to harnessing technology for economic growth and social development. The government’s initiative aims to integrate AI into key sectors including healthcare, agriculture, finance, public administration, and education, while strengthening research, innovation, and digital skills across the country. Officials say the expanded agenda will help Kenya maintain its position as a regional technology leader and accelerate the adoption of AI-driven solutions nationwide.
The expansion builds on the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy launched on 27 March 2025, which provided a roadmap for AI integration, skills development, and ethical governance. Complementing this is the Kenya AI Skilling Alliance (KAISA), launched on 29 October 2025, which seeks to upskill professionals, support startups, and foster innovation hubs across Kenya. Pilot programs are already underway, including AI-driven crop monitoring systems, automated patient diagnostics, and predictive analytics for financial services. These initiatives demonstrate how AI can address local challenges while creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and innovators.
Industry analysts and tech experts have welcomed the expanded national agenda, noting that it could significantly boost productivity, investment, and job creation. Stakeholders stress the importance of ethical AI frameworks, inclusive access to technology, and robust data governance to ensure the benefits are widely shared.
