Kenya has affirmed its complete preparedness to fulfill all financial and infrastructural demands as preparations escalate for the joint hosting of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with Uganda and Tanzania.

Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya stated that the government is collaborating closely with major institutions, including the Parliamentary Committee on Sports and the National Treasury, through a comprehensive government strategy to secure resources for the continental event.

Speaking during the launch of the FIFA Women’s Series, scheduled for April 11-15 in Kenya, Mvurya provided reassurance to both local and international stakeholders regarding the nation’s dedication.

“I want to assure all Kenyans and our international partners, including the Confederation of African Football (CAF), that we are fulfilling both our financial commitments and infrastructural requirements,” he emphasized.

He further noted that Kenya’s preparations are advancing smoothly, expressing confidence in the nation’s capability to stage a world-class tournament.

“Our sports infrastructure development is progressing as planned. This is why we invited CAF to inspect our progress because we believe we are performing exceptionally well,” Mvurya added.

Kenya is a member of the collaborative “Pamoja East Africa” bid, which obtained the hosting rights for AFCON 2027. As part of the hosting obligations, the nation is required to pay a mandatory fee of Sh3.9 billion.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has also mandated that host countries upgrade and refurbish essential sporting facilities.

Construction of the 60,000-seat Talanta Stadium has now surpassed 87 percent completion and will function as the primary venue for matches.

The Moi International Sports Centre will also host games, while Nyayo National Stadium has been designated as a training facility.

Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi characterized the opportunity to host AFCON as a significant achievement for the country and urged Kenyans to support the initiative enthusiastically.

“We should be extremely proud and passionate that we are hosting this prestigious sporting event,” he stated.
