Kenya Airways Welcomes Four New Board Members Including Kittony, Ndii

Kenya Airways (KQ) has welcomed four new members to its Board of Directors, adding economist Dr. David Ndii, businessman Kiprono Kittony, corporate leader Chris Diaz, and finance scholar Prof. Winnie Iminza Nyamute to its leadership team.

In a statement released Thursday, the national carrier confirmed the appointments were made in compliance with Capital Markets Authority (CMA) regulations that mandate public disclosures for listed companies.

Kittony, currently serving as chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), has been appointed as Chairperson and Non-Executive Director of the KQ board.

Recognized as a prominent business figure, Kittony is credited with revitalizing the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has chaired or co-founded numerous organizations, including Creditinfo CRB Kenya, Mtech Limited, Betway Kenya, and Radio Africa Group.

The accomplished executive holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Global Executive MBA from United States International University-Africa and Columbia University. In 2019, he received the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) award from former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Dr. Ndii, who currently chairs the President’s Council of Economic Advisors where he serves as the principal economic policy advisor to the Head of State and leads the implementation of the country’s economic transformation agenda, joins the board as a Non-Executive Director.

With over three decades of experience, Dr. Ndii is regarded as a distinguished economist, author, and strategist who holds advanced degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Nairobi and is recognized as both a Rhodes Scholar and Eisenhower Fellow.

Dr. Ndii established the Institute of Economic Affairs and Africa Economics and previously served as Chief Economist at Equity Bank, as well as working at the World Bank.

Diaz and Prof. Nyamute have been appointed as Independent Non-Executive Directors, bringing extensive experience in strategy and board leadership to the airline.

Diaz currently serves as chairman of Adili Group, director at ALN Africa, and group director at Bidco Africa. He possesses more than 34 years of experience in integrated business solutions and has held influential positions in aviation through his work with Kenya Airways and the Kenya Airports Authority.

Prof. Nyamute, an associate professor at the University of Nairobi, brings more than three decades of experience in finance and accounting to the board.

The scholar has previously served on several corporate boards, including the Nairobi Securities Exchange, Sameer Africa Plc, and Family Bank Limited.

“As a Certified Public Accountant and ICPAK Fellow, her career demonstrates a dedication to excellence, leadership, and service within Kenya’s financial sector,” the company statement highlighted.
