Nandi, Kenya – November 3, 2025: The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams commenced smoothly across Nandi County on Monday, with over 27,000 candidates sitting for the national assessments. Despite persistent heavy rains, there were no reported delays, thanks to coordinated efforts between school principals, National Government Administration officers, and the County Disaster Management Committee. Examination papers were delivered on time to all centres, ensuring a seamless start to the exams across Nandi Central, Nandi North, Nandi East, Tinderet, and Chesumei Sub-Counties.

Authorities, however, have maintained a high alert, particularly in flood- and landslide-prone areas such as Tinderet Sub-County. Nandi Central Deputy County Commissioner Alfet Jilo confirmed that security and disaster preparedness measures were fully in place, with emergency response teams ready to act if needed. The Director of Education, Harrison Muriuki, highlighted the county’s proactive approach, noting that a total of 29 examination centres in Nandi Central received their papers on schedule. The smooth commencement follows similar resilience during the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), where heavy rains also failed to disrupt proceedings.

County officials and education stakeholders have praised the collaborative efforts between the national and county governments in ensuring exam integrity and student safety. With heavy rains expected to continue, the Disaster Management Committee will closely monitor vulnerable regions to prevent disruptions. The successful rollout of KCSE under these challenging weather conditions underscores Nandi County’s commitment to education and preparedness, offering a model for other regions in balancing national examinations with environmental risks.
