Kakamega Security Officials Warn Politicians Against Campaign Disruption

Kakamega’s County Commissioner, John Ondego, has issued a strong warning to politicians ahead of the upcoming elections, advising them against allowing their supporters to cause disorder at campaign rallies. He emphasized that any candidate whose followers provoke chaos risks having future campaign events suspended.
During a meeting with election hopefuls—including those running for governor, senator, and woman representative—Ondego reminded them that they had signed the electoral code of conduct, which requires peaceful conduct during campaign activities.He said security agencies would increase patrols, and candidates must notify police in advance of their campaign locations to prevent clashes between rival supporters. Candidates were also warned against vandalising rival posters and engaging in hooliganism.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials reminded politicians of their duty to ensure peaceful campaigns, with monitors present from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), Registrar of Political Parties, and other agencies ready to record any violations.
