Kajiado’s Maasai Beadwork & Strength Program Integrated into National Curriculum

by KenyaPolls

After proven success in reducing dropout rates and improving bone health (News #181), the Maasai Beadwork & Strength Program was integrated into Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) as a model for *Cultural Physical Literacy* on November 1, 2025. The Ministry of Education issued guidelines for all ASAL counties: functional fitness paired with indigenous craft, storytelling, and ecology. Strength is woven—not just lifted, said curriculum developer Dr. Naserian Tungo. Teacher training begins in January 2026. UNESCO will document the rollout for its *Indigenous Knowledge in Education* series.
