Kajiado County Education & Youth Development Initiatives
1. Life Skills and Values Program
Led by CECM Education Hon. Janet Sereu with key education stakeholders.
Aim: Equip children with essential life skills for success during and beyond schooling.
Organized with DUPOTO-E-MAA to review progress, lessons learned, and improve implementation.
2. Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teacher Training
Two-day training for ECD teachers in partnership with Nyansapo and iHub.
Focused on AI-powered digital tools for literacy and numeracy.
Teachers trained on handling school challenges; tablets distributed to support foundational skills.
3. Youth Training and Internship Program
Partnership with MasterCard Foundation.
Targets 5,000 youth across 25 wards; 20 from each ward selected for internships.
Goal: Provide practical skills and employment pathways post-training.
4. Education for Learners with Disabilities
Partnership with The Action Foundation to improve educational quality for children with disabilities.
Training for education directors and coordinators to cascade knowledge to all ECD teachers.
5. Early Childhood & Vocational Training Strategy
Engagement with ECD coordinators and Vocational Training Center managers.
Aim: Strengthen ECD education and promote vocational training in county institutions.
6. Department of Education Scorecard (2017–2022)
Achievements:
226 ECDE classrooms initiated; 172 complete.
34,972 bursary beneficiaries; 430 scholarships awarded.
Construction of dormitories, dining halls, laboratories, administration blocks.
Increased ECDE enrollment from 37,687 (2017) to 43,005 (2022).
Improved teacher-student ratio from 1:46 to 1:38.
7. School Infrastructure & Resources
Construction of Kyangombe Primary School in Kitengela Ward.
Provision of water tanks and tents to schools across wards to enhance learning environments.
8. Public-Private Partnerships
Dormitories and dining halls constructed for Kisaju Dipak Secondary School in partnership with Zenith Steel Limited.
Encouragement for other private entities to support county education initiatives.
9. Mentorship Program (Olkejuado Leaders League)
Targeted at Olkejuado High School students.
One-week internship in county departments to expose students to real-world careers.
Focus on nurturing future leaders through hands-on learning and mentorship.
