Kajiado County integrated Maasai Beadwork & Strength Training into 30 schools on May 14, 2025—where girls learn traditional beadwork while doing functional fitness (carrying water jugs, squatting, balancing). Strength is woven into our culture—literally, said elder Naserian Tungo. The program reduced dropout rates by 37% and improved bone density in participants (per KEMRI study). Beaded resistance bands—made by mothers’ co-ops—are now sold nationally. UNESCO is reviewing it for intangible heritage. A documentary, *Beads & Bones*, aired on KBC.
