The Kajiado County Department of Roads has announced the completion of over 1,100 kilometres of graded and graveled rural roads and the commencement of a major tarmacking project within Kajiado Town. County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works, Lesinko Kores, reported that the department graded 974km of roads in the last two financial years, installed 6,714 metres of culverts, and completed key bridges including the Mpete and Olgumi bridges. The new flagship project involves tarmacking internal roads connecting Kajiado Town estates to the Central Business District and the Nairobi-Namanga Highway to decongest traffic. Our focus is on connectivity that drives trade. The town tarmac project and the ongoing Ilmisigiyo-Enkong’u Narok Road will open up markets for our livestock and agricultural produce, stated CECM Kores. The department has also taken delivery of new graders and excavators to maintain the expansive rural road network across the county’s 21,292 sq km.
Kajiado County commits to 1,245 km of roads, affordable housing and street lighting under its CIDP
