Isiolo County hosted the first Northern Kenya Camel Racing Carnival on November 9, 2025—drawing 500 youth from Samburu, Marsabit, and Laikipia for races, poetry, and job fairs. Camels raced 5km, guided by teen jockeys using traditional songs. Winner: * Lokori * ridden by 15-year-old Lemaron Lenayi. Funded by the County and IGAD, the event reduced youth idleness and inter-clan tensions. A racing camel is better than a rustled one, said elder Duba Lengurisi. The county built a training track and veterinary hub. UNESCO is documenting the oral traditions shared during the festival.
