The Health Cabinet Secretary has signalled plans to table the Quality Healthcare and Patient Safety Bill, 2025, aimed at tightening standards across public and private facilities. The proposed law seeks to clarify service delivery standards, strengthen inspection regimes and introduce stiffer penalties for providers who flout patient-safety rules. Officials said the bill aligns with Universal Health Coverage goals and will be accompanied by a phased implementation plan to allow facilities time to comply. The move comes as the ministry seeks to rebuild public trust after a series of high-profile clinical incidents and to standardise care across the country.
