Government to build 900 new police stations nationwide as part of security overhaul

by KenyaPolls

n a bold commitment to reinforce national security, President William Ruto has pledged to construct 900 new modern police stations across Kenya over the next two years. The announcement, made on December 3, 2025, came during a public presentation of the Jukwaa la Usalama security report compiled from months of community consultations.
According to the plan, 300 of the stations will be built under the government’s Affordable Housing Programme, ensuring that remote and underserved areas have closer access to law-enforcement services — reducing response times, improving investigations, and strengthening community policing.
The government hopes the move will bolster public confidence in security services and deter criminal gangs, especially in areas that have long suffered from inadequate police presence.
