Government Disburses KSh 22 B Capitation to Basic Schools Ahead of Term Two

by KenyaPolls

Nairobi — The Ministry of Education (MoE) has released KSh 22.03 billion in capitation funding to public basic education schools in Kenya, covering Primary, Junior Secondary, special‑needs, and day Secondary schools. Under the allocation, KSh 1.37 billion is set aside for free primary education, KSh 8.9 billion for free day junior school education, KSh 118.4 million for special‑needs junior school classes, and KSh 11.6 billion for free day secondary education. The Education Julius Ogamba said the funds will support the smooth functioning of schools in the new term and urged heads to use the resources wisely, warning against unauthorized levies or mis‑use. School heads — many of whom had earlier warned of disruption because of delayed funding — expressed relief that payment delays have finally been addressed, allowing them to meet staff salaries and secure learning materials.
