Nyeri County residents have been assured that all stalled road projects in the region will be revived and completed, following the government’s allocation of Sh17 billion for ongoing construction. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki made the announcement while inspecting several stalled road sites in Kieni Constituency, including Endarasha-Charity-Gakanga-Embaringo-Kimunyuru and Mweiga-Amboni-Mbondeni-Ruiru-Karandi roads. The projects, which had been on hold since 2019 due to budgetary constraints, are now set for completion by August 2026, marking a significant boost to infrastructure development in the county.

Prof. Kindiki highlighted that President William Ruto’s economic interventions over the past two years have stabilized finances, enabling the government to fund stalled projects across the country. In addition to roads, the government is expanding water projects, rural electrification, and market construction under programs such as Kazi kwa Ground, Kazi Mtandaoni, and Kazi Majuu. During the visit, the DP inaugurated the Last Mile Connectivity Project in Aguthi Village, providing electricity to 101 homes, including that of 73-year-old Lydia Wairimu Karoki, a mother of five, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving rural livelihoods.

Officials and residents welcomed the announcement, citing the projects as critical for boosting economic activity, enhancing transport efficiency, and supporting local businesses. With 12 roads slated for construction and ongoing investment in electricity and water infrastructure, Nyeri is set to experience a transformative period of development. The government emphasized that these initiatives will be closely monitored to ensure timely completion, reflecting a broader strategy to improve service delivery and create jobs while minimizing unproductive political engagements.
