Fraudsters Invade Tharaka County, Residents Warned
Residents of Tharaka County have been put on high alert following an invasion by sophisticated fraudsters targeting unsuspecting members of the public. The scammers are employing a variety of deceptive schemes, including fake employment opportunities, fraudulent land sales, and get-rich-quick pyramid schemes. Local authorities have warned the community to be extremely vigilant and to verify the authenticity of any offer that seems too good to be true.

According to the County Commissioner, the fraudsters often pose as government officials or successful businesspeople to gain the trust of their victims. They have been reported to use persuasive tactics to convince residents to part with large sums of money for non-existent jobs or properties. The National Police Service has launched investigations and is pursuing several leads to apprehend the criminals.

The public has been urged to conduct due diligence through relevant government offices before engaging in any financial transactions. The County Commissioner also directed chiefs and their assistants to educate residents at the grassroots level about these scams. Residents are encouraged to immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station to prevent further financial losses.
