4 Arrested, 200 Litres of Illicit Brew Seized in Tharaka Nithi
Police in Tharaka Nithi County have arrested four individuals and seized 200 litres of illicit brew in a targeted crackdown on illegal alcohol. The multi-agency operation raided a clandestine brewing den in the Marimanti area, where the suspects were caught producing and packaging the toxic liquor. The seized consignment, which included the potent traditional brew known as ‘kangara’, was publicly destroyed.

According to the police, the raid followed complaints from residents about the open sale and consumption of the illicit alcohol, which was causing social disorder and health problems. The four suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be charged with operating an unlicensed brewery and selling illicit liquor.

The County Commissioner commended the public for their cooperation and warned that the crackdown on illicit brew and drug peddling will be intensified across the county. He urged locals to continue providing information that would lead to the arrest of other culprits, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eradicating the vice that has been ruining the lives of the youth.
