The Football Kenya Federation Machakos County Branch has launched the Capt. Irene Ndanu Soccer Summit, which will involve 480 teams and over 9,600 players across all 40 wards in the county.

At the launch of this grassroots football initiative, FKF President Hussein Mohammed underscored the organization’s dedication to systematic development at the grassroots level.
“Kenyan football can only develop sustainably when our local competitions are well-organized, inclusive, and properly managed. This summit demonstrates an effective approach to implementing that vision at the county level,” he stated.

The summit has a total program value of Ksh 20 million, which includes Ksh 5 million in prize money, complete team uniforms, match equipment, and comprehensive development programs.
These components cover coach education, financial literacy for youth, governance enhancement, and specialized support for female participants.

Capt. Irene Ndanu, the program’s patron, outlined the broader vision for the summit.
“It aims to provide young athletes with a platform that blends competitive play with personal growth and life skills, ensuring that talent is nurtured through sustainable systems,” she explained.

This initiative aligns with the Football Kenya Federation’s national strategy for grassroots and technical development, establishing Machakos County as a model that can be replicated throughout Kenya.
