Fire Razes Several Homes in Mukuru as Residents Count Losses

by KenyaPolls

Residents of Mukuru kwa Njenga slums in Nairobi are counting heavy losses after an early morning fire tore through homes and churches near Muhindi Mweusi Supermarket on Tuesday.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m., and despite residents’ efforts to contain it, flames engulfed a wide area, reportedly destroying ten blocks of structures. The exact value of the damages remains unclear.

This incident comes just a week after a fire at Toi Market destroyed traders’ wares, claiming four lives, including a child, who were trying to rescue their belongings. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the Mukuru kwa Njenga blaze.
