Esports Included as a Medal Event in 2027 National Secondary Games

In a historic decision, the Ministry of Education has announced that esports will be included as an official medal event in the 2027 Kenya National Secondary Schools Sports Association (KNSSSA) games. Titles will include educational strategy games and approved sports simulators. We are recognizing the digital dimension of student life and competition. This fosters strategic thinking and hand-eye coordination in a controlled environment, said the Principal Secretary for Education. The move is expected to spur investment in school gaming labs.
