Embu County Assembly Speaker Josiah Thiriku has notified authorities about a purported security threat at Ishiara Police Station, stating that individuals are allegedly being organized to assault him and his residence prior to the Evurore Ward by-election.
Having documented the incident in the Occurrence Book number 09, 25/02/2026 at Ishiara Police Station, Thiriku spoke to reporters and accused the combined opposition of scheming to interfere with the electoral proceedings and target him personally.
“I possess reliable intelligence that hired individuals are being positioned to assault me and my home tomorrow. I am making this public record as my security is compromised,” stated Thiriku.
He additionally claimed that the purported perpetrators had received specific directives to attack him, appealing to security authorities to increase monitoring and protect him during the upcoming by-election.
“The orders given to these hired individuals are to attack me. I am requesting police to reinforce security measures to prevent my injury and maintain peaceful elections,” he emphasized.
In a distinct media briefing, religious leaders in Evurore Ward requested tranquility and peaceful engagement during the by-election.
Jacob Njiru requested all political figures and their followers to adhere to legal standards and avoid disorder.
“Elections should not cause violence. We implore everyone to stay peaceful and abide by the law during the by-election,” Njiru stated.
Michael Njeru supported the appeal for peace, encouraging voters to return to their homes immediately after voting to prevent unwarranted friction.
“After casting their ballots, citizens should depart and avoid lingering near polling stations as that might create unnecessary tension,” he mentioned.
