EACC Raids Bomet County Offices in Major Corruption Probe
Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have conducted simultaneous raids on the homes and offices of several senior Bomet County officials as part of a major investigation into a corruption scandal. The operation, which involved detectives and forensic experts, targeted officials from the finance and procurement departments believed to be at the center of a multi-million shilling fraud. The commission is investigating allegations of irregular procurement and embezzlement of public funds.
The EACC confirmed that the raids were aimed at securing crucial documents, including payment vouchers, procurement records, and bank statements, which are expected to provide evidence of the financial malfeasance. Computers and mobile phones were also seized for forensic analysis to trace the flow of funds and uncover the network of individuals involved. The operation was carried out after the EACC obtained warrants from the court.
