DP Gachagua Urges One Man, One Shilling Revenue Debate

by KenyaPolls

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reignited the contentious one man, one shilling debate on revenue sharing, arguing that regions with larger populations contribute more to national taxes and should receive a greater share. Speaking in Murang’a, Gachagua stated the formula should be based on pure population numbers, a position that favors his Mt. Kenya region but is fiercely opposed by leaders from arid and sparsely populated counties. The debate threatens to reopen old wounds in the Senate as it prepares for the next round of formula reviews.
