Commissioner Assures of Stable Security in Baringo
The government has assured residents and investors of stable and improved security in the previously volatile Baringo County. The assurance was given by the County Commissioner during a public baraza, where he stated that sustained multi-agency security operations have successfully contained banditry and cattle rustling, restoring normalcy to the region. He affirmed that security teams remain on high alert to maintain the peace gains and prevent any resurgence of violence.

The Commissioner credited the success to the collaborative efforts between security forces and local communities, who have been providing crucial intelligence leading to the recovery of illegal firearms and the arrest of suspected bandits. He noted that the improved security has allowed for the reopening of schools, the return of displaced families to their homes, and the resumption of economic activities like trade and farming in areas that were once no-go zones.

While acknowledging the progress, the Commissioner urged residents not to be complacent and to continue partnering with security agencies by reporting suspicious individuals and activities. He reiterated the government’s long-term commitment to pacifying the region, which includes not only security operations but also development initiatives aimed at addressing the root causes of conflict, such as resource-based disputes.
