Auditor-General Launches Recruitment Drive Amid Anti-Corruption Push
Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu has initiated a significant hiring drive at the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) as part of efforts to strengthen oversight and curb corruption in public institutions. The move comes amid increasing pressure to enhance transparency and accountability in government operations.
Speaking before a National Assembly committee on 15 April 2025, Gathungu highlighted the need for skilled personnel to improve audit coverage and efficiency across state departments. She emphasized that the recruitment exercise targets professionals in auditing, finance, and data analysis to ensure robust monitoring of public resources.
The recruitment drive is expected to boost the OAG’s capacity to identify and address irregularities in government spending, supporting ongoing reforms aimed at reducing mismanagement and corruption in Kenya’s public sector.
