Bandit Shot Dead as Police Recover 33 Stolen Livestock in Baringo
A suspected bandit was shot dead and 33 stolen livestock were recovered following a fierce firefight with police in Baringo County. The security operation was launched after a multi-agency team received a tip-off about a group of armed raiders who had staged a livestock theft in the volatile Kiserian area. Police engaged the criminals, leading to the fatal shooting of one bandit while his accomplices fled with injuries.
According to the police report, the officers on patrol intercepted the raiders as they were driving the stolen animals. A gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to abandon the livestock and retreat. The 33 recovered animals, comprising cattle, sheep, and goats, have since been identified by their owners and returned. A sophisticated rifle and several rounds of ammunition were also recovered from the scene.
The Baringo County Police Commander commended the officers for their bravery and the local community for providing timely intelligence. A manhunt is currently underway for the remaining bandits who escaped, with security teams pursuing them across the rugged terrain.
