The Azimio la Umoja coalition has launched a nationwide People’s Convention initiative, a series of public forums aimed at rallying citizens against the policies of the Kenya Kwanza government. Led by Raila Odinga, the coalition cites the high cost of living, illegitimate leadership, and punitive taxes as key grievances. The conventions, starting in Kamukunji, Nairobi, are framed as an alternative platform for national dialogue, bypassing parliament which Azimio claims is captured. The government has dismissed the move as a political tactic to incite public unrest.
