Athletics Kenya partnered with *Taka Taka Solutions* and *Ocean Bound Kenya* to launch eco-bibs for all national races on May 5, 2025—made from 100% recycled ocean plastic and algae-based ink. Each bib saves 3 plastic bottles from the Indian Ocean. The first batch debuted at the Kip Keino Classic, with runners scanning QR codes to track their bib’s plastic journey. Your race number cleaned a beach, said AK CEO David Okeyo. Over 120,000 bibs were produced in 6 months, diverting 360kg of waste. World Athletics featured the initiative in its *Green Events Playbook*. Corporate sponsors now fund Adopt-a-Bib programs for school athletes.
