To reduce altitude sickness, Athletics Kenya launched Altitude Transition Protocols on September 3, 2025—for athletes from coastal/lowland regions training in Iten or Eldoret. The 7-day program includes staged ascent, hydration monitoring, and iron-rich diets. Altitude is a gift—but it must be unwrapped carefully, said Dr. Evans Kipkoech (Biomechanics Lab). In trials, dizziness and fatigue dropped 74%. All national camp invites now include transition plans. World Athletics is piloting the model for the 2026 World Cross in Morocco.
