In a major integrity drive, Athletics Kenya (AK) announced the suspension of 12 athletes—including two former national champions—on January 30, 2025, following positive tests for prohibited substances (EPO and testosterone derivatives). The athletes, competing in distances from 800m to marathon, were flagged during unannounced out-of-competition tests coordinated with the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK).
