A data science project by the Ministry of Sports is scouring decades of secondary school athletics competition results to find the next generation of marathon champions. The Talent Radar AI cross-references winning times, athlete physiques, and even altitude data to identify runners whose performance profiles mirror those of young Kipchoge and Kosgei. We’re mining our rich historical data to predict future greatness and ensure no diamond in the rough is overlooked, explained the project lead. The first list of high-potential athletes has been shared with Athletics Kenya for targeted development.
