The newly implemented AI camera system is being used for an unintended but welcome benefit: drastically reducing time-wasting. The system automatically logs time lost during substitutions, injuries, and goal celebrations, providing referees with precise added time. In its first month of use, average added time per match increased from 3 to over 7 minutes. Players and coaches now know they can’t cheat the clock. We are getting more actual football played, noted a senior league match official.
