Narok County plans to hire 700 staff, including village administrators, health workers, and game rangers.

Narok County has announced a multi-sectoral push to bolster its economy and services, even as it grapples with recurring security and public health crises. Governor Patrick Ntutu unveiled a KSh 150 million fund to modernise markets in Narok East, South, and Trans Mara, as part of a broader strategy to nearly double own-source revenue to KSh 6 billion in 2025. Simultaneously, the county plans to recruit 700 new staff in education, health, and security sectors. These developments unfold against a tense backdrop: a recent ethnic clash on the Nakuru-Narok border necessitated a 7-day curfew, and a cholera outbreak in Kilgoris has claimed lives, prompting emergency water distribution to schools. Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, during a visit, urged for peaceful resolution of land disputes and the surrender of illegal firearms, while County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia downplayed reports of widespread insecurity, attributing most incidents to GBV and alcoholism. In a parallel initiative, the county launched a local Alternative Justice System to ease court backlogs and a 10-year Animal Feeds Strategy to boost livestock productivity.
