Nairobi Businesses Adopt AI Solutions for Customer Service

by KenyaPolls

A growing number of companies in Nairobi are deploying artificial intelligence (AI) to overhaul their customer service processes, using chatbots, predictive analytics, and voice assistants to improve response times and operational efficiency. According to a recent report, roughly 54.8% of Kenyan organizations cite customer service as their top priority for AI investment.
One leading example is Pawa IT Solutions, a Nairobi‑based technology firm that recently launched an AI‑powered customer support platform using Google Cloud AI. The system integrates Vertex Search, giving agents real‑time access to relevant data to answer customer queries intelligently. Despite automation, Pawa’s CEO Oscar Limoke notes that human interaction remains essential — their AI also supports typo correction and natural‑sounding conversation to maintain customer trust.
Large Kenyan companies are also joining the trend. Safaricom, for instance, is using machine learning models to personalize customer engagement, optimize support workflows, and efficiently handle high volumes of inquiries. Meanwhile, smaller businesses are partnering with AI developers like Elqon Limited and Softlink Options to build chatbots that operate across WhatsApp, websites, and other channels — enabling automated, 24/7 customer support at a lower cost.
The reaction across the Nairobi business community has been largely positive. Executives say AI is helping cut down response times, free staff from repetitive tasks, and scale customer service without proportionally increasing headcount. But they also caution about challenges — including the need to train staff, maintain AI systems, and strike a balance between automation and personal touch.
Looking ahead, tech insiders project that AI adoption in Nairobi’s customer service could deepen even further as more companies implement intelligent agents, real‑time data analysis tools, and voice‑interface assistants. With ongoing AI training and support from local firms, many Nairobi businesses are poised to deliver more responsive and cost‑effective service — and potentially set new standards for digital customer engagement in Kenya.
