Makueni Launches Statistical Abstract to Strengthen Data-Driven Governance
Makueni County Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has launched the 2024 Makueni County Statistical Abstract, aiming to enhance data availability for informed decision-making and accelerated county development. Speaking at the Makueni PWD Centre in Wote, the governor emphasized that reliable data is critical for monitoring progress on development projects and ensuring they stay on track. The launch also included the unveiling of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) indicator handbook, which provides clear metrics for assessing the county’s performance in various sectors.
Governor Mutula highlighted the importance of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in successful programme implementation, noting that the county has established a Projects Monitoring and Evaluation System (PMTS). This system offers a unified digital platform to track the status of county programmes and projects, enabling stakeholders and community members to access information online and provide feedback. Ward development profiles for the last two years were also inaugurated, detailing verified programmes and projects implemented at the grassroots level.
The event was attended by Executive Committee Member for Finance, Planning, Budget, and Revenue Damaris Kavoi, Deputy County Commissioner Rashid Kwanya, and various government officials and community members. Governor Mutula further launched the Department of Finance, Planning, Budget, and Revenue Strategic Plan for 2024-2028, reinforcing the county’s commitment to evidence-based planning, transparency, and accountability in service delivery.
