Nairobi Students Launch Campaign to Promote Healthy Study Habits

by KenyaPolls

In April 2025, students from various secondary schools in Nairobi launched a county-wide campaign to promote healthy study habits, aiming to improve academic performance and mental wellness among learners. The initiative was part of a life skills workshop held at Kenya High School, where over 365 Form Two and Form Three students gathered to explore strategies for effective learning, time management, and stress reduction. The campaign emphasized the importance of balanced routines, active study techniques, and self-awareness in navigating academic challenges.
The workshop, supported by educators, parents, and volunteers, featured interactive sessions on effective communication, character development, drug awareness, and reproductive health. Students were encouraged to adopt smart study practices such as goal setting, group discussions, and regular breaks to avoid burnout. The program also highlighted the role of digital tools and peer support in enhancing learning outcomes. According to organizers, the campaign was designed to empower students with practical skills that extend beyond the classroom, preparing them for future academic and personal success.
The initiative has received praise from education stakeholders across Nairobi. Teachers noted increased motivation and discipline among participating students, while parents expressed appreciation for the campaign’s holistic approach. This program has helped my son become more organized and confident in his studies, said a parent from Kasarani. Looking ahead, organizers plan to replicate the campaign in other counties and integrate healthy study habits into the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) framework. With continued support, Nairobi’s youth are setting a new standard for academic excellence rooted in wellness and resilience.
